I’m going to be writing the 4-6 page story this week. Here’s the final list of ideas I’m considering. I’ve expanded and altered a few ideas to get a better feel for what they’d be about. As based on previous votes:
-Widgets visits his brother in the midst of a violent revolution^1
-Epic Speech during a Revolution^1
-Pepony’s cutie mark^2
-Derpy the Genius^2
-The Lich going insane^3
-The Lich dealing with some other villains^3
-The Adventures of some chap through the Stickmen Universe (I pity the fool)
If they have the same exponent, then they may be grouped in the story (depending on length and whatnot), or you could vote for them together. I’m currently leaning towards Widgets meeting his brother who gives an epic speech during a revolution, but I’ll leave it to popular vote: which story should I do?
Confound it… the first Master Art Challenge started and I’m loaded with homework… ESPECIALLY SINCE IT’S DA VINCI. HE IS THE KING OF THE SKETCH.
Also, Veil’s hat was everywhere (albeit with a palette swap) in today’s episode. That’s what I noticed.
(Addition): You’ll also be seeing a lot of concept art in the next week, since I’m doing some Bits and Widgets concept art for a school project. There will even be some previously unknown side characters.
Social contracts, being the relationship between people in a civilization, are a key part of philosophy. I have bits and pieces of one bubbling around in my head. One of the most interesting points of it though was inspired by none other than Pinkie Pie.
It came from the episode, A Friend in Deed. So, Pinkie Pie runs around with the express intent of making people happy. That alone is her purpose in life (a rather great one, I’d say).
This gave me an idea: why not institutionalize that? I haven’t worked out the bugs, but thus the plan: create a system where there is a specific occupation where you run around doing service, spontaneous acts of kindness, and making as many people as possible happier. From a Machiavellian point of view, that would increase the productivity of the society. The fact that modern civilization wouldn’t support people like this, is as far as I’m concerned, a major problem. Men have a right to the pursuit of happiness- but why must we only pursue our own happiness?
Now, we don’t exactly have a modern government to meld to my designs, so here’s the next best thing: live as if it were your occupation. As one goes about their daily lives, perform as many Spontaneous Acts of Kindness (SAF) as humanly possible. Use your influence as an influence for good- no matter how small the task seems.
Because it’s often what seems smallest at the time that lasts longest in memory.
Peradventure, does anyone know a good drawing tablet that is not on the high end of expensive? Artistic irritation has arisen at being stuck with vectors, which while effective, are not quite the same as a good sketch. And I do not have the time to sketch something and then redo with vectors on a frequent basis.
On an unrelated note, peradventure is the 20% cooler root to perhaps. I figure that it started out as peradventure (it’s used in the John Tyndale and King James Bibles), then changed to perchance. After that, it became perhaps (which could be a contraction of perhappenstance).
Confound these ponies for addressing an idea right before I was going to! I do forgive them, though, because today’s episode was brilliant.
Hurricane Fluttershy was about an effect I call the Miracle of the Commons (the inverse of the Tragedy of the Commons). When taken and considered alone, an action or person often doesn’t seem like much, nor seem to have much potential. But repeat this action or gather many people like that, and one discovers a mighty force. Muscle is built on countless moments of seemingly vain exercises, mind on countless problems and questions, which alone are of little value.
You’re only powerless when you tell yourself that. Anyone can start a revolution. (The Arab Spring was largely comprised of a bunch of bloggers, after all).
So, my school plays music between classes. In celebration of the season, I got Winter Wrap Up to be among those songs. It won’t be implemented for a week because of how the song selection system works, but it will play a few times for the next 3 weeks (probably 5-6 times). I suppose being late is worthwhile if I get to hear it more.
Have more delaying tactics as I waste away on videogames and design a follower spotlight, and plan the plotlines of the various characters. It’s a short story again, from a few months ago, after the break. I should return to normal content quickly.
“A few questions for the Lich. How exactly did you become a lich? What were you before becoming a lich? What interests have arisen after becoming a lich? How did you get your fancy desk? And, finally, do you have any familial relations to any of the other cast members?” -Hethander
I’m going to start writing plots now and again sometime soon. That was actually half the reason I designed the Lich’s study (the other being to give him a backdrop for answering questions). Having a storyline ought to push a bit of character development.
In other news, I actually made the Lich’s desk even fancier.
Ah, hello there, I've moved to tumblrville just a few weeks ago. Since then i haven't seen a smart stick, its good to know that I'm not the only one that can solve a problem on his own! Why don't we go have a little chat and get some coffee sometime?
It probably would have made more sense to have Widgets answer, but I spent 2 hours drawing that desk for the Lich’s study, and that’s what I had.
Though the Lich is quite primed for intellectual conversation. Ever since he blew up his old guild, no one has really wanted to speak with him about his favorite topics.
