“This is the plan. It would be folly to change it for your whim,” Vigil said, tiredly.
His ally, and sometimes friend, Whisper, expressed his discontent with that statement.
“Your plan is folly. Blight take your plan, this will work! You just have to redirect some troops to my support!” Whisper said.
For their mostly amiable alliance, Whisper possessed a bit more confidence in his tactical prowess than Vigil. It comes from his appointment as General, being a Hero of the Blessed, fighting the Blight in many lost battles. He was a brilliant warrior, but thinker, no.
“The battle will go as I have outlined. You will not form a splinter group to serve your personal glory. If any changes will be made, it will be as the battle progresses, not now,” Vigil retorted, “Goodbye, Whisper.”
The pair split to take up their positions. Admittedly, one had a bit less enthusiasm after that conversation, but the formations began to appear. As the army coalesced, the enemy entered sight.
